Thank you notes for kids

It is our job as parents to teach our kids how to write a thank you note. In this day in age, too many people send an email, text or even verbalize a thank you. We need to remember that if someone takes the time to "think" of us, we need to take a moment to "think" of them and think of them respectfully with a thank you note. With that being said, if we do not teach our kids how to write one...they will never learn. We can not expect them just to know. They need not to just fill in the blanks on a card. Even if they only write one sentence it is WAY better than a fill in the blank thank you note card. So come on parents, take a moment and sit down with your children and explain the importance of writing a thank you note. As soon as a child is able to write their name, they are ready to write a thank you note. Start by having them just sign their names on the cards. As they get a little older, have them sit with you while you write them and explain what you are writing and again have them sign the cards. When they can write a full sentence...they are on their own. If you think "oh, they just can not write so many" have them do 1-2 notes per day. You gauge how much, as each child is completely different. Do not sell your child short though, they will get excited to do it once they have some cute stationery to write on.
